In a remarkable move to support education and ease financial burdens on families, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has rolled out a groundbreaking initiative to provide free school uniforms to 796,092 pupils across 7,092 public schools.
During the launch event in Kano on Tuesday, Governor Yusuf highlighted the program’s dual purpose: alleviating the financial strain on parents and promoting education. “The government’s commitment to quality education is evident in our efforts to train and retain personnel, as well as provide timely supplies of teaching and learning materials,” the governor stated.
He encouraged parents and guardians to ensure consistent school attendance for their children, emphasizing the critical role education plays in shaping the future. This initiative aims to boost pupils’ morale, foster focus on their studies, and enhance the overall teaching and learning environment.
The state’s commissioner for education, Ali Makoda, also praised teachers for their dedication and applauded the government’s commitment to prioritizing education. He noted, “By prioritizing education, the state government aims to empower the next generation with the tools they need to succeed and contribute positively to society.”
This uniform distribution marks a significant step in addressing the challenge of out-of-school children and underscores Kano State’s dedication to building a brighter future through education.
