Heirs Insurance Group, one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing insurance providers, is making a significant impact on underserved communities with its innovative initiative, The Good Project. This initiative aligns with the Group’s commitment to sustainability and community development.
The Good Project focuses on teaching communities the value of upcycling—turning waste materials into reusable items—not only to promote environmental preservation but also to uplift financial well-being. In a heartfelt gesture, the project provided essential school supplies and cash donations to over 500 schoolchildren in Lagos’ Makoko community, ensuring they start the year with hope and opportunities.
Collaborating with Slum2School Africa and Eco Barter, Heirs Insurance Group brought this vision to life, combining sustainability with social impact to create meaningful change.
Niyi Onifade, Sector Head of Heirs Insurance Group, highlighted the initiative’s importance:
“Through this project, we are demonstrating the potential of sustainability, emphasising its role in improving lives while preserving the environment. We are not only reducing waste and contributing to the upliftment and well-being of communities, but we are also creating awareness of the financial benefits that upcycling offers.”
The donations and school supplies were particularly timely, providing relief to families as they navigated the challenges of a new year. Onifade added, “Our goal is to bring hope and joy to these families when they need it most.”
This initiative is part of Heirs Insurance Group’s broader sustainability efforts, showcasing its dedication to corporate responsibility and its belief in the power of business to drive positive change.
