Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has officially welcomed 6,549 new students for the 2024/2025 academic session. These students are enrolled across eight schools and 57 diverse programs within the institution.
This marks the 32nd matriculation ceremony of the Polytechnic and the fifth to be presided over by Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, the institution’s Rector.
During the ceremony, Prof. Ogbo shared some exciting news: the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) had completed its Institutional Accreditation, Resource Inspection, and Program Accreditation from December 18–20, 2024. The results were impressive—out of 27 programs presented, the Polytechnic achieved a perfect 100% success rate.

The Rector also noted that under his leadership, 19 new programs were introduced, accounting for 33.3% of the institution’s offerings.
“These milestones reflect our commitment to both structural and academic progress,” Prof. Ogbo stated. “We are continuously working to enhance the student experience and make learning both valuable and effective.”

In line with this commitment, the Polytechnic has made significant strides in infrastructure development, providing modern offices, classrooms, lecture halls, studios, and laboratories across various departments.
Prof. Ogbo took the opportunity to address some concerns, cautioning students against engaging in harmful activities such as gun-running, examination malpractice, drug abuse, cybercrimes, and vandalism. He stressed the importance of maintaining discipline and abiding by the law.

“Any student found guilty of these vices will face serious consequences, including expulsion and prosecution,” the Rector warned.
The Polytechnic’s focus is on maintaining a conducive learning environment and promoting values that shape well-rounded students ready to contribute positively to society.
