As preparations for the 2025 Mock-UTME and Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) intensify, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has trained 2,661 proctors to strengthen the integrity and smooth conduct of the examinations nationwide.
During the session, the Board emphasized professionalism, technical competence, and ethical standards. The selected proctors were congratulated for being among the few found competent for the task and reminded that their role is a national assignment, not just a job.
Proctors are expected to be computer literate and ready to assist candidates with technical issues. JAMB also instructed them to maintain a high level of conduct and be proactive in preventing exam malpractice.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, urged the proctors to register with the Board and generate a profile code that will serve as their official reference for future communication. He also highlighted the importance of carrying proper identification to guard against infiltration by unauthorized individuals.
On remuneration, Prof. Oloyede explained that the updated payment is in line with federal guidelines and global standards, describing it as an incentive for the proctors’ contribution, even though it may not fully reflect the value of their service.
The training, facilitated by JAMB’s IT Consultant, Mr. Damilola Bamiro, focused on key responsibilities such as understanding center structure, moral obligations, report form documentation, and adherence to rules.
“You were appointed based on trust, and, as such, you must discharge your duties meritoriously,” Bamiro told the participants.
He reminded them of critical guidelines: candidates must not be allowed into the exam hall an hour after the start time, and none should exit within the first hour of the exam. He also stressed the importance of professionalism, calmness, and strict attention to details—especially regarding prohibited items, biometric checks, and completing the checklist.
