OAUSTECH’s Best Graduating Student Receives N500,000 Reward for Academic Excellence

Stephen Emeomi-Magi, the best graduating student of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, has been honored with a N500,000 prize from the Ahonaruogho family of Benin City, Edo State.

The Vice-Chancellor of OAUSTECH, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, shared the news in a statement, revealing that the award, named the ‘Mrs. Josephine Ajua Ahonaruogho Prize Money for Best Graduating Student,’ was presented in recognition of Emeomi-Magi’s outstanding academic performance.

Emeomi-Magi, a graduate of Electrical/Electronics Engineering, emerged as the top student for the 2023/2024 session during the university’s convocation on March 4. Among the 995 graduating students, 31 earned First Class honors, 367 secured Second Class Upper Division, 495 received Second Class Lower Division, while 102 graduated with Third Class degrees.

The prize was announced by Dr. Richard Oma-Ahonaruogho, SAN, through an official correspondence to the institution.

“It is hoped that the award will further stimulate academic excellence and produce graduates that will lead Nigeria in her quest for excellence and true greatness,” Oma-Ahonaruogho stated.

The university’s Registrar, Abiodun Okunniga, praised Emeomi-Magi for his dedication and commitment to excellence, emphasizing that his remarkable performance earned him well-deserved recognition. He also appreciated the Ahonaruogho family for their continued investment in OAUSTECH students, believing it would leave a lasting impact on their lives and contribute to Nigeria’s development.

Emeomi-Magi expressed his gratitude, admitting he was taken by surprise when he learned of his achievement. Overwhelmed by the recognition, he thanked God, the university’s management, and the Ahonaruogho family for acknowledging his hard work and dedication to his studies.
