Twin Triumph: UI Brothers Graduate with Identical First-Class Degrees and Top Honors

Two remarkable twin brothers have set a new milestone at the University of Ibadan, graduating with identical first-class degrees from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Busoye Opegbemi Matthias and Busoye Tolulope Matthew both earned an impressive CGPA of 3.94 out of 4.00, emerging as the best graduating students in their department and the entire Faculty of Technology for the 2023/2024 academic year.

Matthias shared the exciting news on X (formerly Twitter), sparking praise across the UI community and beyond.

In a congratulatory message, the Society of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Students (SEEEES-UI) celebrated the duo, recognizing not just their academic brilliance but also their leadership during their time at the university.

Matthias served as the Honourable Speaker of the UI Students’ Representative Council (UISU-SRC, 11th Assembly), while Matthew led as President of SEEEES-UI during the 2023/2024 session.

Their academic journey was nothing short of consistent excellence. From their first year to their final year, both brothers maintained top scores, with only minor variations in CGPA before finally matching perfectly in their last year.

  • 100 Level: Matthias – 3.84 | Matthew – 3.89

  • 200 Level: Matthias – 3.92 | Matthew – 3.94

  • 300 Level: Matthias – 3.95 | Matthew – 3.93

  • 400 Level: Matthias – 3.94 | Matthew – 3.93

  • Final CGPA: Both – 3.94
