The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has achieved a significant milestone by securing full accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for all its academic programs. This accreditation serves as a testament to the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and quality education.
Along with the accreditation, the polytechnic received approval to introduce eight new academic programs, which reflect the institution’s ability to adapt to national needs and global trends. These new programs include:
- Higher National Diploma (HND) in Crime Management
- Higher National Diploma (HND) in Cooperative Economics and Management
- Higher National Diploma (HND) in Taxation
- Higher National Diploma (HND) in Cybersecurity and Data Protection
- Higher National Diploma (HND) in Artificial Intelligence
- Higher National Diploma (HND) in Strategic Communication and Media Studies
- Higher National Diploma (HND) in Film and Multimedia Production
- National Diploma (ND) in Urban and Regional Planning
In her letter, Dr. Fatima Kabir Umar, Director of Polytechnic Programs at NBTE, praised the Polytechnic for its commitment to innovation and quality. However, she also mentioned areas for improvement to fully regularize the new programs, including operational costs, infrastructure, and equipment. The institution is already addressing these areas to meet NBTE’s standards.
Rector of the Polytechnic, Alhaji Sani Usman, expressed his pride in the development, calling it “a bold validation of the Polytechnic’s capacity to deliver high-quality technical and vocational education aligned with Nigeria’s developmental goals and global best practices.” He added that the accreditation underscores the institution’s focus on staying ahead in fields like digital technology, media innovation, economic development, and urban planning.
The full NBTE accreditation will be revisited by 2030, while the new programs will be due for accreditation once the first set of students reaches their fourth semester.
The Students Forum Nigeria serves as the ultimate hub for Nigerian students, fostering academic growth, social engagement, and knowledge sharing.
