The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has announced the appointment of two key principal officers — a new substantive Bursar and a new University Librarian — following the approval of the institution’s Governing Council.
The announcement was made in a statement released by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Benedicta Ehanire. She confirmed that the council, led by Professor Umaru Shuaibu, approved the appointments after a competitive interview process.
Mr. Osagie Iguma Uwagboe Osifo has been appointed as the new Bursar of the university. An alumnus of UNIBEN with a degree in Accounting, Mr. Osifo is a Fellow of the Chartered System Accountant, USA. He previously served as Bursar at Edo State University, Uzairue.
Also appointed is Professor Jane Igie Aba as the University Librarian. She is a professor of Library and Information Science and a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Prof. Aba was the University Librarian at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, from 2016 to 2021, and until her appointment, she headed the Department of Library and Information Science at the same institution.
Both appointments are for a renewable term of five years.
