EKSU Secures Full NUC Accreditation for 18 Academic Programmes

Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has received full accreditation for 18 of its academic programmes following the October/November 2024 accreditation exercise by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The news, announced in a statement by the university’s Deputy Registrar and Head of the Directorate of Information & Corporate Affairs, Bode Olofinmuagun, was met with excitement by the EKSU community. It marks a significant achievement in the university’s continued pursuit of academic excellence.

The NUC’s approval was conveyed in a letter dated April 30, 2025, signed by Engineer Abraham Chundusu, Acting Director of Accreditation, on behalf of the Executive Secretary. The letter was addressed to EKSU’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Babatola Ayodele.

The newly accredited programmes cut across various faculties and fields of study, including:

  • Administration & Management: M.Sc. Business Administration, Master of Personnel Management, Master of Public Administration, MBA

  • Humanities: Arabic Studies, Islamic Studies, Philosophy

  • Education & Technology: Building and Woodwork Technology Education, Electrical and Electronic Technology, Metal and Auto Mechanic Technology, Education Christian Religious Studies

  • Engineering: Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering

  • Science & Social Science: Geology, Psychology

Reacting to the development, Prof. Ayodele described it as “a dream come true,” crediting the hard work and dedication of both academic and administrative staff.

“The university is always better positioned to meet the educational needs of Nigerian youth in cutting-edge and relevant fields of study,” he added.

This milestone further strengthens EKSU’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading institutions. The university was recently ranked as the best state university in the country by the Times Higher Education 2025 ranking.

Prof. Ayodele also expressed gratitude to key stakeholders including the Governor of Ekiti State and university Visitor, His Excellency Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (an alumnus of the institution), the Chancellor, Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, and the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Akin Oyebode, for their continued commitment to EKSU’s growth and global relevance.
