The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is calling on qualified indigenes of the Niger Delta region to apply for its 2025/2026 Local Postgraduate Scholarship Programme. The initiative is aimed at supporting Master’s degree education in Nigerian universities, especially in fields critical to regional and national development.
The scholarship covers various disciplines including:
- Agricultural Sciences
- Architecture
- Engineering
- Environmental Sciences
- Geosciences
- Humanities
- Information Technology
- Law
- Management & Social Sciences
- Medical Sciences
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be an indigene of the Niger Delta
- Be under the age of 40
- Hold at least a Second Class Lower Bachelor’s degree, HND (Upper Credit), or a PGD
- Possess a valid admission letter for a Master’s programme at a recognised Nigerian university
- Have completed NYSC with a discharge or exemption certificate
Selection Process
Applications are to be submitted online via the NDDC website. The selection involves:
- Initial Screening – Based on academic qualifications, WASSCE/NECO results, and Local Government identification.
- Computer-Based Test (CBT) – Shortlisted candidates will sit for a CBT at designated centres in Akwa Ibom, Delta, and Rivers States. A minimum score of 70% is required to proceed.
- Further Shortlisting – Only candidates who meet the cut-off score will advance to the final selection stage.
