A shocking incident has unfolded in Jigawa State, where a 45-year-old teacher, Musa Wada, has been arrested for the horrific killing of his 14-year-old student, Bashir Adamu.
The Jigawa State Police Command confirmed the arrest, with spokesperson SP Lawan Shiisu stating that detectives apprehended the suspect following a tip-off.
During interrogation, Wada confessed that Bashir had died while being punished for skipping school. In an attempt to mislead the public, he beheaded the boy and cut off his genitals to make it appear as though the teenager had been killed in a ritualistic act.
According to SP Shiisu, “On 13/03/2025 at about 1530hrs, one Mal. Musa Wada, male, 45 years old, from Jikas-Dabaja village, Gwaram LGA, was arrested in connection with the gruesome killing of his pupil (Almajiri), one Bashir Adamu.
“Following a tip-off, detectives attached to the Gwaram Division successfully arrested the suspect.
“On interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department Dutse, the suspect confessed that the late Bashir Adamu was his student but refused to come to school. When questioned about his absence, Bashir failed to provide a satisfactory response, leading to the punishment that resulted in his death.
“In an attempt to deceive the public into believing that ritualists had killed Bashir, he decided to cut off his head and genital organs. He further revealed that he buried the removed body parts on his farmland.”
Authorities were first alerted to the crime on 12/03/2025, when a decomposing, headless body was discovered by the roadside near Jikas-Dabaja village in Gwaram LGA. Investigations later confirmed that the body belonged to Bashir Adamu, a student under Wada’s care.
The suspect remains in police custody, and authorities have assured that he will be charged in court to face the full extent of the law.
