The Ondo State Scholarship Board has officially opened applications for its 2024/2025 scholarship and bursary awards. This initiative is designed to support students of Ondo State origin across universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
With a strong focus on educational support, the Board aims to ease the financial burden on students and help them focus better on their academic goals. Set up in April 2000, the Board has consistently provided financial lifelines to deserving indigenes through bursaries, scholarships, and special financial assistance.
Scholarship and Bursary Categories
There are two main categories of awards available:
- Scholarship Award: A one-time payment of ₦100,000 to eligible students in their second year and above who maintain strong academic performance.
- Bursary Award: A ₦10,000 grant available to all eligible students across approved institutions.
- Special Financial Assistance: ₦50,000 is awarded annually to physically challenged students, as well as students in Law Schools and medical students undergoing clinical training, regardless of academic scores.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the scholarship:
- You must be an indigene of Ondo State.
- You must be in at least your second year at a recognized tertiary institution.
- University students must have a GPA of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or 4.0 (on a 5.0 scale); polytechnic students need a minimum CGPA of 3.5.
- Part-time, pre-degree, and certificate course students are not eligible.
The bursary is open to all full-time undergraduates, NCE students, polytechnic students, and those in health-related schools such as Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Technology.
The special assistance is designated for:
- Students in Nigerian Law Schools
- Medical students in clinical stages
- Physically challenged students in any tertiary institution
Required Documents
Applicants must provide:
- A letter of identification from the Head of Department
- A valid student ID card issued by their institution
- Participation in any verification or monitoring exercise by the Board
Important Notes:
- Academic honesty is crucial. Any act of dishonesty or malpractice may lead to disqualification or cancellation of the award.
- Scholarships are renewable only with consistent good academic performance.
