FUTA Celebrates Pro-Chancellor Nora Daduut as She Exits for South Korea Ambassador Role

The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has bid farewell to its Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Senator Nora Daduut, following her appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea.

A farewell dinner was held in her honour on Saturday, May 16, 2026, organised by the university’s Council and management to celebrate her service and contributions to the institution.

Speaking at the event, Vice-Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji described the occasion as one filled with mixed emotions, acknowledging the impact of the outgoing Pro-Chancellor’s leadership while expressing how difficult it was to say goodbye.

Professor Oladiji praised Ambassador Daduut as diligent, visionary, and deeply passionate about educational advancement, noting the strong working relationship between university management and the Governing Council throughout her tenure.

She credited many of the university’s achievements over the past two years to the support provided under Daduut’s leadership, including timely staff promotions and prompt attention to welfare matters.

Registrar Mr. Charles Adeleye also commended the outgoing Pro-Chancellor, saying FUTA witnessed remarkable progress in academic administration, infrastructure, staff welfare, and institutional stability during her time in office.

He described her contributions as indelible in the university’s history, adding that her leadership created an environment where management could function effectively and pursue development goals without friction.

In her response, Ambassador Daduut called her time at FUTA a memorable and rewarding experience, commending staff, students, and stakeholders for upholding the university’s reputation as a centre of academic excellence.

She encouraged the university community to remain united and expressed confidence that FUTA would continue to grow and achieve even greater milestones ahead.

Union leaders, deans, directors, and Council representatives also took turns to praise her humility, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the university’s progress.
