UMTH Opens Admission for Post Basic Nursing Programmes for 2026/2027 Session

The University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) has announced the commencement of applications for admission into its School of Post Basic Critical Care Nursing and School of Post Basic Peri-operative Nursing for the 2026/2027 academic session.

Qualified candidates are invited to apply for either of the two nursing programmes before the application deadline.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Possess at least five (5) credit passes in WAEC, SSCE or NECO, including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry, obtained in not more than two sittings.
  • Acceptable O’Level combinations include WAEC and WAEC, NECO and NECO, or WAEC and NECO within two sittings.
  • NABTEB results are accepted only if obtained in not more than two sittings and cannot be combined with WAEC or NECO.
  • Be a registered nurse with a valid practising licence issued by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

Application Fee

The application fee for each programme is ₦15,000 and is non-refundable.

  • School of Post Basic Critical Care Nursing (SPBCCN): ₦15,000
  • School of Post Basic Peri-operative Nursing (SPBPON): ₦15,000

Application Period

Application forms for both programmes will be available from:

25 June 2026 to 30 August 2026

All payments must be made into the UMTH Schools Account through REMITA.

After payment, applicants are required to present both the original and photocopy of their payment evidence to the school cashier to obtain the official hospital receipt, which will be used to collect the application form.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews during the week following the submission of their application forms.

Entrance Examination and Interview

The entrance examination and interview for both programmes will hold from:

  • School of Post Basic Peri-operative Nursing (SPBPON): 1 September to 4 September 2026
  • School of Post Basic Critical Care Nursing (SPBCCN): 1 September to 4 September 2026
