The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced plans to introduce a new mobile pre-registration platform that will allow candidates to register for the UTME from the comfort of their homes, cutting the process down from 20 minutes to just two to three minutes.
The Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, made the disclosure during an inaugural meeting on August 3, promising a significantly less stressful registration experience for candidates ahead of the 2027 UTME cycle.
Aina said the board was committed to eliminating what he described as unnecessary trauma associated with the registration process and its aftermath, urging staff to ensure that JAMB no longer became a source of distress for candidates.
The new platform is designed to be fully mobile-friendly, allowing candidates to sign up from anywhere using their phones through fast sign-ups, offline data collection, and an instant validation process.
According to JAMB, the system will also scan and verify documents automatically, preventing the entry of wrong data and reducing irregularities that have historically caused problems during registration.
The platform is also expected to resolve recurring issues such as communication errors and other technical challenges that candidates regularly encounter.
“We shall continue to simplify our processes, improve our communication, strengthen our customer support, embrace technology where it makes service easier, protect information with the highest standards of security, invest in our people, modernise the way we work and build systems that are efficient, transparent and worthy of the confidence Nigerians place in us,” Aina said.
The initiative is part of the registrar’s broader JAMB 2031 reform agenda, which is aimed at repositioning the board as a technology-driven admissions body that places candidates at the centre of its operations.
