NYSC DG Urges Corps Members to Explore Capital Market for Extra Income

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has advised Corps members to take advantage of the capital market and other investment opportunities during their service year.

He gave this advice while addressing Corps members at the Imo and Enugu State Orientation Camps.

General Nafiu urged them to look beyond paid jobs for survival and instead build multiple sources of income.

His words, “you should diversify, don’t put all your eggs in one basket because that is what life entails.”

He also told the Corps members to respect the cultural beliefs of their host communities and avoid actions that could lead to confrontation.

NYSC Imo State Coordinator, Mrs Doris Erumwunse, informed the Director General that 1,511 Corps members were registered in the state, comprising 674 males and 837 females.

She said the number included 8 doctors, 18 nurses, 9 pharmacists, 13 medical laboratory scientists, 2 radiographers, 7 optometrists and 4 pharmaceutical technologists.

The Coordinator commended the Corps members for their good conduct since arriving on camp.

In Enugu State, the NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Kemi Awolola, told General Nafiu that Corps members have shown commendable eagerness to embrace mentorship and integrate into the scheme since the orientation course began.

She said the Corps members had seamlessly joined their platoons and were actively taking part in camp activities despite their different socio-cultural and religious backgrounds.
