FUTES Iyin-Ekiti Reopens Admission Portal for 3 New Programmes, Closes October 13

The Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences (FUTES), Iyin-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has reopened its admission portal for prospective students seeking admission into three newly approved academic programmes.

The development follows approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the university to commence Artificial Intelligence, Telecommunication Science, and Tourism and Hospitality Management programmes.

The portal will remain open for one week, from Tuesday, October 6, to Tuesday, October 13, 2026, for candidates interested in the newly approved programmes.

The NUC conveyed the approval in a letter dated September 11, 2026, following a resource verification exercise conducted at the university on August 27.

During the exercise, the commission’s team assessed the facilities, personnel and other resources available for the three programmes before granting approval.

The reopening of the admission portal comes as the university prepares for its second academic session, with the fresh window specifically targeting candidates interested in the newly approved programmes.

Speaking on the development, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gbenga Aribisala, said the new programmes were designed to address emerging national and global needs while complementing the university’s technological and environmental mandate.

He said the institution was not expanding its academic offerings simply to increase student enrolment, but to ensure that every programme was relevant and aligned with the vision of the university.

“We are not expanding our programme base simply to increase our number of students. Every programme we introduce must have a purpose, must respond to a need and must fit into the vision for which this university was established,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor added that the university had worked deliberately to provide the human and physical resources required to support the programmes, stressing that the expansion would not compromise academic quality.

Interested candidates are advised to visit the FUTES-IYIN admission portal and carefully follow the registration guidelines.

Prospective candidates are also required to effect a change of institution to FUTES-IYIN and a change of programme to any of the three newly approved programmes on the JAMB CAPS as part of the admission process.

The institution urged candidates to complete their applications and the required JAMB changes within the stipulated period, noting that the portal would close at the end of the one-week window.

The university had earlier commenced its 2026/2027 admission exercise, with the screening registration subsequently closed after the initial application period.
