NABTEB Moves to Digital Exams for Greater Efficiency

The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) is set to digitalise its examination processes to improve efficiency and enhance credibility.

Dr. Mohammed Aminu, the newly appointed Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, shared this vision while addressing staff at NABTEB’s headquarters in Benin City. He outlined plans to streamline everything from registration to result processing and certificate issuance through digital transformation.

“We will accelerate the digitalisation of our examination processes, from registration to result processing and certificate issuance, to enhance efficiency and reduce errors,” he said.

As part of this initiative, NABTEB will expand Computer-Based Testing (CBT), moving more subjects to digital platforms to align with global trends and the increasing digital literacy of candidates.

To strengthen exam security and integrity, the board will implement biometric verification, encrypted question papers, and real-time monitoring systems to curb malpractice. Dr. Aminu believes these steps will not only protect the credibility of NABTEB certificates but also modernise the examination process for a more seamless experience.

Beyond digital transformation, he emphasised a commitment to staff development, promising capacity-building programmes to keep employees updated on global best practices in educational assessment and administration.

“NABTEB will further engage schools, technical institutions, government agencies, and industry partners to tackle challenges and drive systemic improvements,” he added.

Dr. Aminu’s appointment has been met with optimism. The Director of Special Duties, Olugbenga Ojogbede, described his leadership as timely, expressing confidence in his ability to advance Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

“With your experience and vision, we believe you will steer NABTEB to greater heights,” Ojogbede said, assuring the registrar of the staff’s support in achieving these goals.
