The Maryam Abacha American University (MAAUN) has honoured the memory of one of its own, Zainab Najashi Danbatta, by naming a female hostel after her. Zainab, a 300-level physiotherapy student, sadly passed away on April 22 following a brief illness.
The announcement was made by Professor Adamu Gwarzo, founder and president of the MAAUN Group of Universities, in a statement released on Saturday.
According to Professor Gwarzo, the university management chose to immortalize Zainab’s name in recognition of her hard work, humility, and discipline. He noted that Zainab was deeply respected by her lecturers, classmates, and everyone who knew her.
In his words, he prayed, “May Almighty Allah grant the deceased the highest level of Jannah and comfort her parents over the loss.”
Through this gesture, MAAUN hopes that Zainab’s legacy of dedication and respect continues to inspire future generations of students.
