The Kaduna State Government has opened applications for the 2025 edition of its Data Science Fellowship Program, a transformative opportunity for young Nigerians passionate about data and technology. The program, part of the Kaduna State Data Lab Project, is supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Natview Foundation for Technology Innovation.
This fellowship is designed to equip selected participants with real-world experience, professional mentorship, and hands-on skills in data science—one of the most in-demand industries globally.
What Fellows Stand to Gain
Selected fellows will:
- Participate in a 6-month fully paid internship with practical projects and mentorship.
- Collaborate with public policy experts and data analysts to improve data-driven decision-making in Kaduna State’s health sector.
- Receive monthly internet data scholarships to support their learning journey.
- Gain exposure to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning tools at the Amina J. Mohammed SDGs Data Lab.
- Network with leaders and professionals across public and private sectors.
- Build a strong foundation for a career in data science and analytics.
Who Can Apply?
To be considered, applicants must:
- Be 18 to 35 years old (exceptions may be made).
- Reside in Kaduna State.
- Have graduated from a tertiary institution in a STEM-related field—including Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Physical Sciences, or Health disciplines.
- Undergraduates currently undergoing internships in STEM fields are also encouraged to apply.
- Possess basic computer knowledge and a foundational understanding of Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills and effective communication in written and spoken English.
- Note: Gender diversity is a key part of the selection process, with 50% gender balancing considered.

Application Steps:
- Complete and submit the online application form.
- Check your email for an activation link and activate your profile.
- Set a password and log in to your profile.
- Submit a 250-word essay on why you should be selected.
- Upload a valid means of ID (Voter’s Card, National ID, Driver’s License, or Passport in JPG format).
- If shortlisted, submit a 2-minute video describing what makes you stand out.
- Await a confirmation email regarding your application status.
- Take a Computer-Based Test if invited.
- Attend a one-on-one interview with the selection panel if you pass the CBT.
- If successful, you’ll become part of the Fifth Cohort of the fellowship.
