The African Development Bank Group (AfDB), in partnership with Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU), has announced the 2026 SHOU Scholarship Programmes for African nationals. The initiative supports the Bank’s Ten-Year Strategy (2024–2033) by building expertise in sustainable fisheries, aquaculture, marine science and resource management.
SHOU is a leading global institution known for its research strength in marine and aquatic sciences. Through this scholarship, selected candidates will pursue Master’s and PhD degrees in fields such as Aquaculture, Marine Science, Fisheries, Food Science, Engineering and Applied or Fishery Economics. There is also a specialised three-week Summer School focused on marine cultivation and fisheries.
The programme blends classroom teaching with laboratory work, research engagement and field visits. Participants learn practical skills in areas like modern aquaculture systems, hatchery operations, environmental sampling and collaborative scientific research.
