Peter Mbah Approves 6,580 Teaching Jobs as Enugu Smart Green Schools Recruitment Begins

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has approved the recruitment of 6,580 qualified candidates into public primary and junior secondary schools.

The recruitment drive focuses on staffing the state’s 267 Smart Green Schools.

The Executive Chairman of ENSUBEB, Associate Professor Hyginus Okibe Banko, issued the vacancy notice.

The board stated that the recruitment is part of the government’s broader education strategy.

“In line with his administration’s commitment to providing the human resources required to drive the Smart Green School initiative and deliver quality education across the state, Governor Peter Mbah has approved the recruitment,” the notice read.

The board is seeking 4,698 core subject teachers in Mathematics, English Language, Basic Science, Basic Technology, ICT, French, Igbo Language and History.

Other positions include 520 digital librarians, 380 experiential learning innovators and 267 guidance counsellors.

The board is also recruiting 267 ICT staff, 267 laboratory attendants, 136 account officers and 45 technicians.

Teaching applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree in education or a related qualification with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education.

Registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria is mandatory for teaching applicants.

Requirements for non-teaching roles vary from degrees in specialised fields to OND, Trade Test or SSCE certificates.

“Candidates applying with a degree or HND must possess a valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate,” the board emphasised.

“Practical proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools is required across all cadres.”

Interested candidates must submit a formal application letter alongside a detailed CV and copies of credentials.

A birth certificate or sworn affidavit of age is also required.

Applications can be submitted in hard copy to the ENSUBEB office in Enugu State.

Candidates may also apply electronically by compiling all documents into a single PDF file.

“Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the screening and selection interview.”

The closing date for submission of applications is Friday, August 14, 2026.
