Less than two weeks into office, new JAMB Registrar Prof. Segun Aina has resolved more than 5,000 pending candidate complaints in just five days, after personally relocating to the Board’s SERVICOM Unit to tackle the backlog of unresolved issues head-on.
The development was disclosed in a statement by JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, who said the Registrar’s hands-on approach had already begun to yield significant results.
Rather than wait for reports from officials, Prof. Aina moved his seat to the SERVICOM Unit to gain first-hand insight into the challenges candidates face and the nature of complaints requiring urgent attention.
He subsequently directed SERVICOM Desk Officers to address all outstanding complaints holistically and without delay, in line with the second of his Five Enduring Pillars, described as “Service at Heart.”
Among the issues resolved were difficulties encountered by candidates trying to generate profile codes using phone numbers they no longer had access to, as well as confirmed cases of biometric verification failures during the 2026 UTME registration and examination.
Prof. Aina also scrutinised the operations of the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), where issues involving candidates who lost their phones or SIM cards, those who converted from Direct Entry to UTME, and graduates omitted from the National Matriculation List after graduation were identified and addressed.
Other complaints resolved included payment difficulties, inappropriate examination venues, e-PIN problems, technical glitches, document upload failures, and requests relating to changes of name, date of birth, state, and local government of origin.
Dr Benjamin said the initiative underscored Prof. Aina’s commitment to placing candidates at the centre of JAMB’s operations and ensuring that services delivered are commensurate with the fees paid by candidates.
JAMB said it would continue to strengthen its complaint resolution mechanisms to ensure candidates receive timely and efficient service going forward.
