Machine and Equipment Corporation Africa Limited (MECA) is currently recruiting for the position of Finance Intern.
The company is an Engineering, Operations and Technical Asset Management Corporation focused on bridging the gap between end users and manufacturers.
The position is based in Abuja.
The successful candidate will support the Finance and Accounts team in maintaining accurate financial records, processing financial information and preparing reports.
The role offers practical exposure to financial management, accounting operations, reporting, compliance and internal controls in a fast paced business environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the preparation, review and maintenance of financial records, schedules and reports
- Performing accurate data entry and updating accounting and financial records
- Assisting with bank, cash, supplier, customer and other account reconciliations
- Supporting the preparation of invoices, payment documentation, vouchers and other financial records
- Assisting with accounts payable and receivable activities
- Supporting the preparation of tax computations, schedules and returns
- Assisting with audit preparation by compiling supporting documents and schedules
- Conducting basic financial and accounting research
- Assisting with the preparation of budgets, forecasts and cash flow schedules
- Maintaining proper filing and documentation of financial records
- Supporting the Finance team in monitoring adherence to financial policies and internal controls
Basic requirements for the role include:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline
- 0 to 2 years of experience in the relevant field
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, taxation and financial controls
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Working knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Zoho Books or SAP will be an added advantage
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Good organizational, time management and record keeping skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and adapt to a fast paced work environment
