Nigerian students who sat the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) are eagerly waiting for their results, and based on available information, the release is expected in early August 2026.
Nearly two million candidates sat the examination, which ran from April 21 to June 19, 2026.
WAEC operates a stated policy of releasing WASSCE results within 45 days of the final examination paper. The Head of the WAEC Nigeria National Office, Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut, confirmed this 45-day standard during a press briefing in Lagos in May 2026.
Counting 45 days from June 19 points to early August 2026 as the expected release window. Based on the 2025 precedent, where WAEC released results on August 4, 2025, candidates can reasonably expect a similar timeline this year, though no official date has been confirmed yet.
Once the results are officially released, here is how to check yours.
Method 1: Check Online via the WAEC Portal
- Visit here and select 2026 as your examination year.
- Choose your candidate type
- Enter your 10-digit examination number, and input the serial number and PIN from your scratch card.
- Click Submit to view your result.
The scratch card costs N5,000 and is available at WAEC offices, selected banks, and authorised vendors. A single PIN can only be used a maximum of five times. After checking, use the print option to save a PDF copy for your records.
Method 2: Check via SMS
- Send an SMS to 32327, available on all major Nigerian networks including MTN, Airtel, Glo, and 9mobile.
- Use this format: WAEC*ExamNo*PIN*ExamYear.
- For example: WAEC*4250101001*123456789012*2026.
- Standard SMS charges of approximately N30 apply.
Candidates are strongly advised to check results only through official channels. The period between the last examination paper and result release is a peak period for online scammers who promise to check or upgrade results for a fee. Do not fall for it.
For the minimum five credit passes including English Language and Mathematics required for most Nigerian university admissions, candidates who fall short after checking their results may consider the WAEC GCE examination as an alternative.
