Crescent University, Abeokuta has secured the National Universities Commission’s (NUC) approval to run a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Artificial Intelligence, starting from the 2026/2027 academic session.
This was contained in the Commission’s letter of September 11, 2026, addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila.
The letter was signed by the Director of Academic Planning of the NUC, Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary.
The approval followed a resource verification visit earlier in the year, during which a panel of experts assessed the human and material resources available for the programme.
According to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, the latest approval is a significant milestone and adds to the university’s hundred percent accreditation scores across all programmes in science, technology, arts and social sciences.
He noted that Crescent University has arguably one of the best knowledge laboratories and Computer-based Centres in Nigeria, offering students a conducive atmosphere to enhance their learning.
He added that with Artificial Intelligence increasingly influencing all sectors of the socio-political economy, the new programme will give students the opportunity to acquire advanced knowledge and skills in their chosen specialisations.
The university’s latest academic approval complements its broader commitment to producing graduates equipped for the demands of the modern economy.
The commencement of the BSc in Artificial Intelligence programme from the 2026/2027 academic session adds a new dimension to the academic portfolio of Crescent University, Abeokuta, reinforcing its vision of academic and moral excellence.
