The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the newly introduced WASSCE (PC1) resit examination does not apply to Nigerian candidates. In a statement on social media, WAEC clarified, “Please Note: The news circulating about WAEC conducting a ‘resit examination’ for candidates is not applicable to Nigerian candidates.”
However, the council reassured Nigerian candidates that those with outstanding grades can register for the upcoming WASSCE (PC1) 2025 session, which will be starting soon.
The WASSCE (PC1) program is designed to give students the chance to retake failed subjects from previous West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE). This exam provides a faster path for students to improve their grades.
WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, shared further details about the program in an interview on JoyNews’ AM Show on Sunday. He confirmed that the exams will be held between January 24 and February 15, 2025.
“Students who access their results now and realise they need to resit one or two papers have until January 8 to register online through our website or at WAEC-accredited internet cafés,” Kapi added.
The Students Forum Nigeria serves as the ultimate hub for Nigerian students, fostering academic growth, social engagement, and knowledge sharing.
