Kano Governor Awards Foreign Scholarships to Top Graduates of Dangote University

The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced automatic foreign scholarships for the nine best graduating students of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil. The gesture was made in recognition of their outstanding academic performance and to support their continued pursuit of excellence.

Speaking during the university’s 5th combined convocation and the second investiture of its Chancellor, Governor Yusuf said:

“The students will be given scholarships to enable them to further their studies in their respective fields.”

As the Visitor to the university, the governor also promised to complete all state-funded projects currently ongoing at the institution, regardless of when they were initiated. He emphasized the importance of investing in education and supporting the institution’s development.

Earlier in the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, revealed that the university had graduated over 18,000 students across seven academic sets, with 2,950 of them receiving postgraduate degrees and diplomas.

In a major development for the institution, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chancellor of the university and Chairman of Dangote Group, announced a ₦15 billion investment over the next five years. The funding will be channelled through the Dangote Foundation and used for:

  • Building additional student hostels
  • Establishing a world-class engineering laboratory
  • Creating a fully equipped computer lab with 24-hour internet access
  • Constructing a new Senate building

Dangote also pledged that the best graduating students would receive automatic employment within his companies across Nigeria.

As part of the convocation ceremony, five distinguished Nigerians were awarded honorary doctorate degrees for their notable contributions to society. The honourees include:

  • Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso
  • Alhaji Dahiru Barau Mangal
  • Dr. Ahmed Adeniyi Raji, SAN
  • Prince Engr. Arthur Ikpechukwu Eze
  • Alhaji Mustapha Ado Muhammad

Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Senator Kwankwaso expressed gratitude to the university, congratulated the graduating students, and encouraged them to be worthy ambassadors of the institution.
