The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has named Okeke Chinedu Christian, a student from Anambra State, as the top scorer in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Chinedu achieved an impressive total score of 375 out of 400, making him the highest-ranking candidate in the country.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ish-aq Oloyede, announced the result during the 2025 Policy Meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to Prof. Oloyede, the top candidate has chosen the University of Lagos (UNILAG) as his preferred institution, where he intends to study Mechanical Engineering.
Closely behind Chinedu is Ayuba Simon-Peter John from Gombe State, who scored 374 and selected Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) for the same course — Mechanical Engineering.
In third place is Jimoh Abdulmalik Olayinka from Kwara State, who scored 373. He also selected UNILAG and applied for Mechanical Engineering.
All three top candidates are male and have opted for careers in engineering, a trend that reflects growing interest in the field among high-performing students.
