FUTA Appoints Prof. Hezekiah Ayoola as Acting Dean of Newly Established School of Architecture

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has appointed Professor Hezekiah Adedayo Ayoola as Acting Dean of its newly established School of Architecture (SOA), effective August 1, 2026.

The appointment was approved by Vice-Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji, with Prof. Ayoola expected to pioneer and provide strategic leadership for the new school in line with FUTA’s vision for academic excellence.

Ayoola is a distinguished academic and administrator in the fields of Architecture, Housing, and Environment-Behavior Studies. He had been serving as Head of the Department of Architecture, FUTA, since August 1, 2023, before his elevation to this new role.

He brings eighteen years of progressive experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership to the position.

Academically, Prof. Ayoola holds a PhD in Architecture from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, obtained in 2015, along with an MPhil (2012) and MArch (2008) from the same institution. He also holds a BTech (Hons) in Architecture from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, obtained in 2004.

He began his university teaching career in 2009 as an Assistant Lecturer at Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji, before joining FUTA on October 4, 2011 as Lecturer II. He rose steadily through the ranks to attain the rank of Professor in 2023.

Prof. Ayoola has published over sixty academic papers in reputable local and international journals and conference proceedings. He has also supervised several Masters and PhD students, making significant contributions to postgraduate training in architecture.

He is a registered member of the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON), the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), and the Association of Architectural Educators in Nigeria (AARCHES). He was recently elevated to the status of Fellow by the Council of the Nigerian Institute of Architects.

As Acting Dean, Prof. Ayoola is expected to set the direction for the School of Architecture and position it for long-term academic and professional relevance.
