The School of Psychiatric Nursing at the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital in Benin City is now accepting applications for the 2025/2026 academic session. This Post Basic Course in Mental Health & Psychiatric Nursing offers candidates the opportunity to become a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), certified by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Nursing Qualification: You must possess an RN Certificate from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, with at least one year of post-qualification experience, including NYSC for BNSC degree holders, and a current practicing license. Additional nursing qualifications are a plus.
- Academic Qualifications: Candidates must have WASSCE/NECO/GCE O/L with at least five credits in no more than two sittings. These credits must include:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Physics
- Alternatively, a NABTEB Secondary School Certificate with five credits in science subjects (from a maximum of two sittings) will be accepted, but WASC/GCE or NECO cannot be combined with NABTEB.
Duration of the Programme
The course runs for 18 months, offering intensive training and practical experience in mental health and psychiatric nursing.

- Photocopies of credentials.
- Two recent passport-sized photographs with a white background.
