Lagos Launches Free TV and Social Media Lessons to Boost WAEC and NECO Prep

The Lagos State Government is introducing 320 lessons across 10 key subjects to help students prepare for WAEC and NECO exams. These lessons, part of the Eko Learners Support Programme, will be broadcast on Lagos Television and shared on social media platforms.

The program, launched by the Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, is designed to enhance students’ performance in critical subjects like English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Government, History, Literature-in-English, and Yoruba.

According to Durotimi Adeboye, Project Director at Global Education Media Ltd., the initiative is a proactive step by the Lagos State Government to support students. “It is fantastic that Lagos State Government pays for students’ WASSCE. Beyond that, the ministry has put this measure in place to boost preparations for a laudable outcome,” he said.

The program features 30 carefully selected teachers who will deliver the lessons. Students can review the sessions, ask questions, and get clarifications through platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter). The lessons will run for 26 weeks, providing ample time for comprehensive revision.

Adeboye urged students to take full advantage of the initiative, stating, “Now that the government has made these resources available, it is entirely up to the students to make good use of them. Without good grades, a barrier will remain that prevents access to higher education.”

The Eko Learners Support Programme is a testament to Lagos State’s commitment to leveraging technology and expert teaching to improve education and help students achieve success.
