MAPOLY HND Students Face Expulsion Over Alleged Fake ND Results

Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) is currently addressing a significant issue as 49 final-year Higher National Diploma (HND) students face potential expulsion for allegedly presenting fake National Diploma (ND) results during their admission process.

The polytechnic uncovered these discrepancies through a standard result verification exercise aimed at ensuring the authenticity of students’ credentials. The affected students span various departments, including Mass Communication, Pharmaceutical Technology, Marketing, Science Laboratory Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Accountancy, among others.

The allegedly falsified results were reportedly sourced from institutions such as The Polytechnic, Ibadan; The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro; Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa; and Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa, all in Oyo State.

MAPOLY’s Public Relations Officer, Yemi Ajibola, explained that the verification process is routine and crucial for maintaining the institution’s academic integrity.

“We have our internal mechanisms for verifying results submitted by every student of the polytechnic. Some of the results had yet to be verified because the schools they came from had yet to confirm their results, while some of the results were found to be fake,” Ajibola stated.

Ajibola also clarified that the delay in verification was due to administrative issues but assured that steps are being taken to resolve the matter promptly.

The students whose results were flagged will not face immediate expulsion. Instead, they will be given an opportunity to defend their credentials.

“They will not be expelled immediately. The institution will write each of the affected students to come and defend the result they presented, and in a circumstance where we detect an error in the verification process, we will rectify it. However, anyone who could not substantiate his/her results will be expelled,” Ajibola concluded.

This situation has prompted the institution to close indefinitely following plans for a protest by some of the students. MAPOLY remains committed to upholding its standards while ensuring a fair resolution for all parties involved.
