Ekiti State Government Empowers Youths with ₦22 Million for Community Development

The Ekiti State Government has taken a bold step toward youth empowerment by distributing ₦22 million in grants to 49 registered youth and student organizations across the state.

The Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Gold Adesola Adedayo, announced the disbursement during a cheque presentation ceremony held in Ado-Ekiti. According to him, this initiative is designed to encourage civic participation and spark innovative projects that will leave a lasting impact on communities.

The funds were shared among seven youth-focused groups (including faith-based organizations), seven student associations, and 35 community-based groups drawn from all 16 local government areas in Ekiti State.

Mr. Adedayo described the initiative as a groundbreaking move in the history of the state. He emphasized that Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration has placed youth development and job creation at the forefront of its agenda.

“This support shows that the Governor’s promises weren’t just words,” he said. “It reinforces his commitment to making Youth Development and Job Creation the number one pillar of his government’s policies.”

He urged all beneficiaries to make wise use of the funds, stressing that the money should be used to spark meaningful projects, strengthen organizational growth, and improve the welfare of young people in Ekiti.

“To our dear youth leaders and student representatives, today’s event is a call to greater responsibility. The subvention you are receiving today is a seed meant to drive meaningful projects, support organizational growth, and enhance the welfare of your members.I urge you all to utilize these funds judiciously, ensuring they are channeled towards the intended purposes. Let this support serve as a catalyst for innovation, collaboration, and community development among our youth.As we celebrate this landmark initiative, I encourage you all to remain steadfast in your contributions to the growth and prosperity of Ekiti State. The future belongs to you, and with the continuous support of our beloved Governor, the path to success is brighter than ever.”

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Comrade Segun Bankole, Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ekiti State Chapter, praised the state government for its generous and impactful gesture.

He described the initiative as a turning point in the collaboration between the government and youth-led organizations in the state. Bankole assured the public that the funds would be used effectively to achieve meaningful goals that contribute to good governance and community development.
