OYSCATECH Celebrates Big Wins with 2,268 New Students and 25 Programme Accreditations

The Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora, recently held a joyous matriculation ceremony, welcoming 2,268 new students for the 2024/2025 academic session. The celebration was even more significant as the institution also secured accreditation for 25 programmes from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

During the ceremony, the Rector, Professor Akinola Akinlabi, shared the exciting news with the matriculating students and guests. He explained that out of the many applicants who sought admission into the College’s National Diploma (ND) programmes, 1,661 were successfully admitted into both full-time and part-time options. Additionally, 607 students were offered places in the Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes, also covering both full-time and part-time studies. Altogether, this brings the total new intake to 2,268 students for the academic year.

Encouraging the new students, Prof. Akinlabi said:

“For students who have been admitted, this is a great honour and rare opportunity for you to learn, socialize, acquire knowledge, skills and for other academic pursuits in the Polytechnic.”

He emphasized that while academic excellence is important, it is not the only ingredient for a successful life.

“Academic excellence is not the sole factor that determines students’ success in life. It is essential to cultivate a well-rounded personality. This means developing good communication and interpersonal skills, as they will be vital in your professional and personal life. Engage in co-curricular activities, join registered clubs and organizations, and volunteer in community service projects.”

Prof. Akinlabi also highlighted the College’s commitment to practical training, entrepreneurship, research, and community service. He noted that since becoming a full-fledged polytechnic in April 2016, OYSCATECH has built a strong reputation for excellence, backed by qualified manpower for effective administration, teaching, and research.
