University of Abuja Names Roseline Adakayi as Acting Registrar

The University of Abuja has announced the appointment of Mrs. Roseline Adakayi as the new acting registrar of the institution. Her appointment, which takes effect from Monday, 12 May 2025, will span an initial six-month term.

The announcement was made in a statement by Dr. Habib Yakoob, Acting Director of Information and University Relations. The official appointment letter was signed by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patricia Lar.

Mrs. Adakayi takes over from Mrs. Islamiya Foyeke Abdulraheem, whose six-month tenure as acting registrar comes to an end on the same day. The appointment was approved by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Olanrewaju Tejuoso.

Congratulating the new appointee, Professor Lar expressed confidence in her ability to deliver on the responsibilities of the role.

“I congratulate Mrs. Adakayi on her appointment as acting registrar and secretary to council. She will be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University. I am hopeful that with her wealth of experience as an administrator, she will serve the University well,” Lar said.

She also appreciated the outgoing registrar:

“Let me also thank Mrs. Islamiya Abdulraheem for successfully ending her six-month tenure today as acting registrar. It has been nice working with her.”

Mrs. Adakayi began her career at the University of Abuja as an administrative officer in the Registry on 2nd November 1999, and rose to the rank of deputy registrar in 2013.

Her academic background includes a B.Sc. in Geography from the University of Jos (1986), a Professional Diploma in Land Surveying from the Federal School of Surveying, Oyo (1990), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Photogrammetry from RECTAS, Ile-Ife (1994).
