University College London (UCL) has announced its African Graduate Scholarship for the 2026 academic year, offering financial support to outstanding African students who wish to study in the United Kingdom.
The scholarship is designed for African nationals with strong academic and professional backgrounds who may not be able to study at UCL without financial assistance. The award is available for students admitted to the MSc Global Health and Development programme at the UCL Institute for Global Health and covers one academic session from September to September.
Scholarship Benefits
Each successful applicant will receive £40,670, which will be used to support tuition fees, accommodation, and part of the student’s living expenses.
Who Can Apply
To be eligible for the African Graduate Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be an African national and a permanent resident of an African country at the time of application.
- Have applied and received an unconditional offer to study the MSc Global Health and Development programme full-time at UCL.
- Demonstrate clear financial need and provide evidence of attempts to secure other funding.
- Show proof of additional funding to cover travel costs to and from the UK and initial expenses.
- Demonstrate concrete plans on how they intend to use the MSc qualification after graduation.
- Complete and submit the scholarship application form to [email protected] on or before Friday, May 29, 2026, at 5:00pm BST.
Selection Process
The scholarship offers a limited number of awards and is strictly for students pursuing the MSc Global Health and Development programme at the UCL Institute for Global Health.
Tuition fees and accommodation costs will be deducted directly from the scholarship award, meaning successful candidates will not receive the full amount in cash.
All applications will be reviewed by a selection committee, and decisions are final. Due to the high volume of applications, individual feedback will not be provided to unsuccessful applicants.
Successful candidates will be contacted in July 2026. Applicants who do not hear back by then should assume they were not selected.
