However, applicants should note that the scholarship does not cover:

  • Feeding allowances

  • Other non-academic university charges

Important Things Applicants Should Know

The Foundation clearly states that applying for the scholarship does not automatically guarantee admission into either university. Applicants must independently secure admission through the university’s official admission process.

The selection process is merit-based and need-dependent. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online interview, after which finalists may be required to present original copies of their documents, proof of citizenship, and proof of university application.

Selection panels will assess candidates based on:

  • Academic excellence
  • Financial need
  • Leadership qualities
  • Community involvement
  • Character and integrity
  • Commitment to community impact

Application Tips for Interested Students

Applicants are advised to complete the online application carefully and ensure all uploaded documents are properly scanned. The Foundation warns that snapping documents with mobile phones may lead to disqualification.

The application also includes essay questions with a maximum limit of 500 words each. These essays are intended to help the selection committee understand the applicant’s leadership journey, goals, and motivation for joining the programme.

Students are encouraged to submit their applications early, as late submissions will not be accepted and deadline extensions will not be granted.

For many African students seeking access to quality education and leadership development opportunities, the David Oyedepo Foundation Scholarship Programme remains one of the most competitive and impactful undergraduate scholarship opportunities on the continent.
