Igbinedion University Okada Admission 2026/2027: Requirements, Courses, How to Apply and Everything You Need to Know

Igbinedion University Okada (IUO) has opened its undergraduate admission portal for the 2026/2027 academic session, and prospective students can now begin their application process online.

The university is inviting applications from purpose-driven and ambitious candidates for both first-year (100-level) and direct entry (200-level) admissions.

The application portal for full-time students is available here, while part-time applicants can apply at iuokada.waeup.org/applicants/pt2025.

IUO currently runs seven colleges offering over 35 undergraduate programmes. Here is a breakdown of what is available:

  • The College of Arts and Social Sciences offers Economics, English, Geography and Regional Planning, Mass Communication, Political Science and Public Administration, International Relations and Strategic Studies, Sociology and Anthropology, and Theatre Arts.
  • The Sanusi Lamido Sanusi College of Business and Management Studies covers Accounting, Banking and Finance, and Business Administration.
  • The Oba Erediauwa College of Law offers the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree.
  • The General Abdulsalami Abubakar College of Engineering runs programmes in Civil, Chemical, Computer, Electrical and Electronics, Environmental, Mechanical, Mechatronic, and Petroleum Engineering.
  • The Oba Okunade Sijuwade College of Health Sciences covers Medicine and Surgery, Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, and Nursing Science.
  • The College of Natural and Applied Sciences offers Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science and IT, Cybersecurity, Industrial Chemistry, Microbiology, and Software Engineering.

The Dora Akunyili College of Pharmacy offers the Doctor of Pharmacy programme.

General Entry Requirements

To be eligible, candidates must possess a minimum of five credit passes in GCE/WAEC, SSCE/NECO, or NABTEB examinations, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained at not more than two sittings.

Candidates who are still awaiting their results may apply, provided the results are available by September.

Candidates applying for Law must also have a credit pass in Literature in English.

UTME Requirement

All candidates must sit for UTME and obtain the prescribed cut-off marks, as this is a statutory requirement for entry into Nigerian universities.

Candidates are advised to ensure they selected Igbinedion University Okada as their institution of choice during JAMB registration.

Direct Entry (200-Level) Admission

Candidates seeking 200-level admission may apply with any of the following: passes in at least two A-Level subjects and one subsidiary subject through GCE; a Diploma or NCE at credit level from a recognised institution; IJMB in appropriate subjects; or a first degree in a relevant discipline.

However, this direct entry route is not available for Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Sciences, and Law.

Transfer Students

Students seeking a transfer into IUO must provide an official Academic Transcript and a JAMB transfer form signed by their current university, addressed to the Registrar, Igbinedion University, Okada, Ovia North-East LGA, or sent via email to [email protected].

Age Requirement

Candidates above 22 years of age are not normally eligible, though older applicants may be considered under exceptional circumstances.

Accommodation and Fees

Accommodation is provided for all students at the Okada Wonderland Estate, and IUO charges moderate and affordable fees.
