Caleb British International School (CBIS), Lagos, has won first position at the Zenith Bank Future Innovators Challenge (Zecathon 6.0). The school took home the competition’s N5 million grand prize.
The management says the win reflects the school’s mix of academic rigour, creativity and practical learning.
It adds that CBIS aims to prepare students not just to take part in the future, but to help shape it.
The school has built a record in academic competitions, international Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programmes and extracurricular activities. Its past recognitions include the Ciena Solution Sustainability Award.
CBIS is part of the Caleb Group of Schools, chaired by Dr Oladega Adebogun, who is also the Founder and Visitor of Caleb University.
The school credits his commitment to quality education and youth empowerment for the environment in which curiosity, innovation and discipline can grow.
The management also thanked the teachers and school leaders behind the victory. It praised their work in teaching, mentorship and the all-round development of students.
It also pointed to the role of the private sector in education. Through the Zenith Bank Future Innovators Challenge, the bank gives young people a platform to show their ideas and technical skills.
According to the school, such competitions help close the gap between classroom learning and the practical needs of a fast-changing economy.
It also called for stronger partnerships among schools, businesses and other stakeholders to widen access to practical learning and nurture young problem-solvers.
For CBIS, the N5 million prize is both a reward and a milestone. It also shows what Nigerian students can achieve in innovation-driven contests when they have the right environment and guidance.
The management of CBIS, Lekki, said: “The message of this victory is unmistakable: the future belongs to those who can imagine possibilities, innovate with purpose and transform knowledge into solutions. At Caleb British International School, that future is already taking shape.”
