FUMMSA Academic Calendar: Resumption Begins November 9

The FUMMSA academic calendar for the 2026/2027 session is out, with academic activities set to begin on Monday, November 9, 2026.

The Senate of the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta (FUMMSA), approved the calendar.

Both fresh and returning students will start with virtual learning before moving to physical lectures on campus.

The first semester will run from November 9, 2026 to April 6, 2027.

Online registration for new and returning students holds from November 9 to 18. The university says there will be no late registration.

Virtual orientation follows from November 16 to 20.

Online lectures begin on November 23 and end on December 18, 2026. They resume from January 4 to 29, 2027, after the end-of-year break.

The approved calendar also lists E-CAT assessments for December 21 to 23, 2026, and February 1 to 3, 2027.

Physical activities on campus start on February 8, 2027 and run until March 19. These include lectures, revision and preparation for the first semester examinations.

On-campus orientation will hold at the Obele-Ajibayo campus on February 8 and 9, and at the Onijanganjagan campus on February 10 and 11.

Matriculation and Founder’s Day celebrations are scheduled for February 23, 2027.

First semester examinations will begin on March 22 and end on April 6, 2027.

All fresh students are to resume at the Onijanganjagan campus facility. Returning 200-level students will resume at the permanent campus on Kilometre 9, Obele-Ajibayo, along Abeokuta-Ajebo Road.

However, 200-level students of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Health Information Management, ICT and Health Informatics, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Chemistry will resume at the Onijanganjagan campus.

On accommodation, the university says it is making arrangements for a reasonable number of students on both campuses. Some students will have to find private accommodation close to either campus.

Second semester lectures are expected to begin on April 19, 2027. The 2027/2028 session is proposed to start on October 4, 2027.

The Registrar and Secretary to Senate, Dr Olukayode Gregory Obayomi, urged students and parents to rely on the university’s official channels for information.

He advised stakeholders to ignore unverified reports and social media claims, which he said could raise unnecessary worry and expose people to fraud.

Students are encouraged to follow the approved calendar, prepare for the new session and monitor the university’s website and student portals for updates.
