Kano Government Approves N200 Million Vehicle Loan to Support Teachers

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved a N200 million vehicle loan scheme for teachers in public primary and secondary schools across the state. The move is part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to boost teacher welfare and strengthen the state’s education system.

Announcing the initiative during the official distribution of instructional materials to public schools, Governor Yusuf emphasized that the loan would help ease the transportation challenges many teachers face daily.

“We recognize the critical role teachers play in shaping the future of our children. This loan initiative is part of our broader strategy to support their welfare and uplift the teaching profession in Kano State,” he said.

He noted that the loan would be provided on transparent and flexible terms, with a focus on teachers who have shown dedication and commitment in their schools.

Beyond the vehicle loan scheme, Governor Yusuf also highlighted other major education reforms his administration is implementing. These include:

  • Distribution of instructional materials worth N2.8 billion
  • Recruitment of 4,000 staff under the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) program
  • Deployment of 17,600 security personnel to schools across the state
  • Installation of solar energy systems in 200 schools to support digital learning

Governor Yusuf reiterated his commitment to transforming the education sector by investing in both infrastructure and people, adding that teachers remain central to the state’s long-term development goals.
