The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has released the results of the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE), showing that 4,169 teachers failed the certification exam while 8,705 candidates successfully passed.
Dr. Jacinta Ezeahurukwe, TRCN’s Director of Certification and Licensing, announced the results in a statement on Wednesday. Out of 13,782 registered candidates, 12,874 sat for the exam, making up 93.4% participation, while 908 candidates (6.6%) were absent.
Of those who participated, 67.62% passed, while 32.38% failed.
According to Ezeahurukwe, Lagos State recorded the highest pass rate at 80%, followed by Edo (73.3%), Niger (69.2%), and the FCT (68.3%). She attributed many of the challenges faced by candidates to low digital literacy.
To address this, TRCN, under the leadership of new Registrar Dr. Ronke Soyombo, plans to introduce several support measures, including:
- Online digital literacy training
- Updated curriculum guides
- Access to past exam questions
The Council has urged all candidates to check their results via www.fron.gov.ng or www.trcnigeria.ng, or by visiting any TRCN state or liaison office.
Successful candidates should begin processing their certificates and licenses, while those who failed are encouraged to enhance their teaching and digital skills ahead of the next examination in November 2025. The validity of the result is one year from the date of release.
