Long-serving academic Joseph Abayomi Olagunju will be elevated to the rank of Professor.

This year’s convocation will unfold in two phases: pre-convocation events and the main ceremony. It began with the press conference and a staff sports competition, followed by a Jumat service at the Central Mosque on April 4, and a Thanksgiving Service at the Chapel of Light on April 6.

The main events will kick off on April 7 with the traditional Coconut Breaking and Cultural Festival at LASU’s Badagry Gate, a celebration organized by the Alumni Association. On April 8, a lecture titled “Patriots, Citizenship, and National Ownership: The Imperative of Collective Responsibility for Nigeria’s Future” will be delivered by Minister of Education, Maruf Olatunji Alausa, with Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as the chairman of the occasion.

April 9 will be dedicated to the award of diplomas, first degrees, and master’s degrees, while the grand finale on April 10 will see the award of PhDs, professorships, and honorary doctorates.

Prof. Olatunji-Bello, now in her fourth year as Vice Chancellor, also reflected on achievements under her leadership. These include the successful accreditation of 43 out of 44 courses by the NUC in 2023, robust collaborations with both local and international institutions, and consistent high rankings—LASU is currently rated the top state university and the leading university in Sub-Saharan Africa by the 2024 UI Greenmetric World University Rankings, for the third consecutive year.
