Federal University Lafia Secures NUC Approval for 17 Academic Programmes

The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has received the green light from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for 17 academic programmes following a successful accreditation process.

According to a statement by Mr. Abubakar Ibrahim, Director of Information and Public Relations at the university, FULafia recorded a 100 per cent success rate in the 2023 and 2024 NUC accreditation exercises.

Mr. Ibrahim emphasized that the approval demonstrates the university’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards and delivering quality education. The NUC’s routine assessment of academic programmes helps ensure that Nigerian universities meet national benchmarks for academic excellence.

The institution credited its success to the dedication of academic and non-academic staff, the commitment of students, and the leadership of the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman.

“We are deeply honoured by this achievement. It is a clear reflection of FULafia’s growing reputation for academic integrity, program quality, and continuous development. We remain committed to maintaining and surpassing these standards,” Mr. Ibrahim stated.

He also highlighted that the NUC grants full accreditation for five years, while interim accreditation is valid for two years, after which the programmes undergo another review. Efforts are already underway to address the interim recommendations for Nursing Science to secure full accreditation in the next round.

With this milestone, FULafia continues to cement its position as one of Nigeria’s emerging centres of excellence in higher education, committed to grooming the next generation of leaders.
