Female students of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, are reportedly living in fear following the return of cultism and sex-for-marks on campus.
Investigations revealed that disciplinary measures enforced by the former management have been abandoned since Professor Salihu Sanusi Avidime resumed as rector.
Some lecturers are now openly seducing female students and threatening to fail them unless they cooperate.
A source cited cases in the Public Administration and Graphics Design departments where lecturers allegedly demanded sexual favours or payments of N70,000 to N80,000.
“These lecturers’ insatiable amorous desires and corruption were tamed under the former management,” the source said.
“As soon they noticed the ‘I-don’t-care’ attitude of the current rector, who hardly stays in office, the old bad traits keep coming out at frightening dimensions.”
One lecturer allegedly told a female student to book a hotel room and pay the bills before he would sleep with her.
The student reportedly reported the incident to management but received insults and intimidation instead of justice.
“The disciplinary structure has collapsed, the corrupt lecturers are getting emboldened while the female students are suffering in silence,” the source added.
Cultist activities have also resumed in full gear on campus.
Nocturnal meetings that were previously banned now take place openly.
“A fortnight ago, initiation of some students into cultist activities took place around one of the female hostels between 2.00am and 3.00am,” the source revealed.
Security personnel reportedly reported this to management but nothing was done.
“The situation is getting worse every day and if government does not quickly do something, it will be worse than what it used to be,” the source warned.
The dress code and identity card policy introduced by the former management have also been abandoned.
Female students now dress anyhow while male students wear dreadlocks and saggy outfits.
Sales of handouts to students that was banned has now been reintroduced.
Students now have to pay through the nose to meet the demands of some lecturers.
This comes amid a recent 200 per cent increase in school fees.
“Governor Usman Ododo must call this current management to order and very swiftly,” the source warned.
However, the polytechnic spokesperson, John Amos Onimisi, confirmed that six lecturers were suspended on July 22, 2026, for unauthorised sales of handouts.
A lecturer was also suspended for alleged sexual harassment.
He said the disciplinary committee is already investigating the allegations and the outcome will be made available to journalists.
