Adamawa State is taking a bold step forward in transforming its basic education system, having secured a ₦12 billion intervention fund from the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC). The grant follows the successful defence and approval of the state’s 2022, 2023, and 2024 Matching Grant Action Plans in Abuja.
The funding agreement was finalised at UBEC headquarters, marking a major move toward improving infrastructure, strengthening quality assurance, and integrating sports and agricultural education into the curriculum. The goal is to create a more holistic and engaging learning environment for children across the state.
Dr. Murtala Umar Babayi, Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB), led the presentation of the plans, supported by directors and desk officers.
UBEC’s Executive Secretary, Dr. Aisha Garba, applauded the state’s proactive approach. “This plan is a significant step toward educational excellence,” she said, commending Adamawa’s efforts to expand access to quality education.
The official signing of the Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) was carried out in the office of UBEC’s Director of Finance and Supply, Adamu Misau, with key officials in attendance.
Dr. Babayi credited the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for enabling the grant by ensuring the timely release of counterpart funding. He emphasized that the state is ready to move forward with immediate implementation, promising that the resources will be put to effective use for sustainable impact.
