TASFUED Appoints New Provost, Announces Sweeping Leadership Changes

Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, has appointed Professor Simisaye Olakunle as the new Provost of its Postgraduate College.

Professor Latifat Erinle-Ibrahim was also appointed Deputy Provost of the college.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Oladipo, announcing fresh appointments and reappointments across the institution.

In the Students’ Affairs Directorate, Professor Olakunle Olagunju Balogun was reappointed as Dean of Students’ Affairs, while Dr Anuoluwapo Feyikemi Awodoyin was appointed Sub-Dean.

Oladipo said the appointments were designed to strengthen academic leadership and improve administrative efficiency across the university.

He said, “These appointments and reappointments involve members of our academic community and cut across the Postgraduate College, Academic and Administrative Directorates, Students’ Affairs, Centres, Committees, Councils, Colleges and Departments.”

According to him, Professor Olakunle previously served as Sub-Dean of the Postgraduate College before his new appointment.

He also appreciated outgoing academics whose tenures had ended, noting that their contributions had shaped the university’s growth.

“Leadership is a continuum, and every administration builds upon the foundations laid by those who have served before it,” he said.

Other appointments made by the university include:

  • Professor Jimoh Owoyele, Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance; Professor Soluade Zabu Olayiwola, Deputy Director
  • Professor Adefunke Ekine, Director of Research and External Relations; Professor Lawal Nurudeen Abiodun, Deputy Director
  • Professor Salako Taofik Ajani, Director of the Distance Learning Institute; Dr Usman Opeyemi Lateef, Deputy Director
  • Professor Kunle Bankole Osinusi, Director of the Centre for External, Part-Time and Preliminary Studies; Dr Olayinka Olufunmilayo Olusanya, Deputy Director
  • Dr Yinka Adediran, Director of the Centre for Human Rights and Gender Education; Dr Anselm Oluwaseun Hannah, Deputy Director
  • Professor Adeoye Muhammed Adeniyi, Director of Counselling and Human Development
  • Dr Adekoya Samson Kehinde, Director of CENVOS
  • Professor Akinyode Timothy Olawunmi, Director of IVOTRA
  • Professor Awofodu Adebola Daniel, Director of CITEL
  • Professor Bayo John Ayorinde, Director of TASFUED Consultancy
  • Dr Ademola Adenubi, Director of Information and Communication Technology

The university also named Dr Kassim Hassan Gbenga as SIWES Coordinator, Dr Badeji Abosede Adejoke as Hostel Warden, and Dr Fashina Ayomikun Opeoluwa as Assistant Hostel Warden.

For committees and councils, the following were appointed:

  • Professor Amore Kehinde Pedro, Chairman, Teaching Practice Board
  • Dr Ayedun Toyin Julius, Head, Examination Malpractice Committee
  • Professor Modupeola Banjo, Chairperson, Sports Council
  • Professor Sowole Olusegun, Head, BCOS
  • Professor Okunowo Abayomi, Head, Transport Services
  • Professor Jamiu Fatai Owolabi, Head, SICED

Oladipo said new Heads of Department and coordinators had also been appointed across the university’s colleges.

He charged all appointees to lead with humility, integrity, innovation, accountability and teamwork.

“Leadership in a university is measured not only by the office one occupies, but by the value one creates, the people one develops, the systems one improves and the legacy one leaves behind,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor congratulated all the newly appointed and reappointed academics, urging them to contribute to the continued growth of the institution.
