In addition to the eight dismissals, the Governing Council approved a two-year promotion delay and 50 per cent forfeiture of withheld salary for Dr Mathias Agba of the Department of Nursing Science, over negligence linked to an examination misconduct case.
The university management reaffirmed its zero tolerance for unethical behaviour in all forms.
“The administration of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Offiong Offiong, remains committed to rebranding the institution on the foundation of integrity, excellence in service delivery and zero tolerance for all forms of unethical practices,” the statement read.
The university said all affected staff were sanctioned in line with due process, following the Council’s deliberation on disciplinary reports presented to it.
