Global logistics company DHL has written off a debt owed by the former management of the University of Uyo.
This was disclosed during a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor’s office on September 3, 2026, at the Central Administrative Building, Main Campus, Nwaniba Road, Uyo.
The DHL Team Lead in charge of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Micheal Iyayi, made the announcement while congratulating Prof Christopher N. Ekong on his emergence as the 9th Vice Chancellor of the institution.
Iyayi said the logistics company had decided to write off the outstanding debt as a show of goodwill to the university’s new leadership.
DHL also expressed readiness to build a stronger relationship with the university under Prof Ekong’s administration.
The company promised to partner with the Vice Chancellor and the institution in areas of mutual interest going forward.
Responding, Prof Ekong commended the DHL team for the gesture, describing it as a sign of goodwill towards the university and its new administration.
He also pledged to re-establish partnership with the company.
The Vice Chancellor promised that his administration will not owe a dime in any transaction going forward.
